Here are some guidelines to help make club nights enjoyable: KBTC Court Etiquette.
The KTBC is a social tennis league and we value “Courtesy, Respect, and Fairness”
Please:
• Observe court etiquette at all times. Always use good judgement and common sense
• Limit the warm up to 5 minutes if players are waiting
• Move off the courts completely to avoid congestion and allow the players coming on
the court to enjoy their game especially when club nights are busy and many players
are waiting
• Play only on courts 1 to 5 as they have been reserved for KBTC. Respect the rights of
the regular public courts and do not play on them during club nights
• Do not interrupt a game by running across or behind a court while a game is in
progress. Please wait until the point is completed and the players give you the OK
to pass
• Play only with three balls
• Pick up the balls around your own court immediately. They are a hazard. Safety first!
• Call a “Let” and replay the point with a first service if a ball rolls onto your court
• Return the ball to the other court when their play is completed and they are ready to
receive the ball
• Remember the server should announce the set/game score at the start of each game
and the game point score for each subsequent point in a game, in a loud clear voice
• Work out a compromise if you cannot agree on the score
• Remember that players are responsible for all line calls on their end of the court; this
call stands regardless of the opponent’s opinion
• Call “It’s in” if you are not sure whether your opponent’s shot is in or out
• Call “It’s in” if you and your partner disagree on a call
• Allow your partner to make the call if you are the receiver and your partner is near the
service receiving line. If in doubt, replay the point
• Call “It’s in” if a player incorrectly calls a ball “Out” and corrects it later and calls the ball
“In”. Replay the point. If you’re having trouble seeing the ball have your partner make
the calls.
• Allow either side to call a service “Let”
• Shake hands at the completion of the match

We usually have great attendance at the beginning of the season, but usually we are starting to see smaller numbers as the summer progresses. And as a general rule of thumb, Friday evenings usually have smaller attendance numbers than Tuesdays, so do the later time slots of the evening.
